About

Hey there, tired Mom! Dad! Caregiver!

I'm so glad you're here!

You have officially taken the first step toward a healthy full night’s sleep for your little one and your family. My name is Jessica! Your Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant and founder of Jessica Levangie Sleep Consulting. I am a well-rested mama to a sweet boy, living in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

There's a catch though, I wasn't always this rested.

Somewhere along the way into my journey of motherhood, I made the decision to accept that sleep would be something I would have to sacrifice for a couple of years. After about 50 or more parents candidly told me “I better get my sleep now before the baby comes”, I felt like I had no choice but to simply accept it. I mean, how bad could it be? Ha!

Fast forward four months to a baby who woke every 45 minutes to feed, a frustrated wife who had no time to worry about her husband, anxiety at an all-time high, not eating properly, over caffeinated, and overall grumpy. And to top it all off, I felt enormous guilt for feeling that way. Acceptance that I wouldn’t sleep was no longer something that I could handle. It wasn’t healthy, it wasn’t normal.
One night, I hit rock bottom.

The frantic Google search began. “How do I get my baby to stay asleep?”. I was taken on quite the journey. A journey into a rabbit hole feeling overwhelmed by multiple strategies, methods and opinions. There was loads of information (too much, really) but the one thing that was missing was SOMEONE to HELP ME. After all, that’s what I needed. Help. Support. Guidance. Someone to reassure me that I wasn’t alone and that it would be O.K.

I reached out to a friend who had a baby a few months before me and she told me about the Sleep Sense™ Program she followed. We had success, and although I was thrilled that everyone was sleeping better, I still felt like I needed more. I had so many questions that a manual just could not answer. What do I do if things go sideways at 3am? What about naps? Teething? Sleep Regressions? What is this “wake window “term I keep seeing in the manual? What did it all mean and how can I prepare for it? I wanted to speak to an expert. Is this even an option? If it is, why is it so hard to find?

It was during those moments of uncertainty that I knew I needed to become an expert in this field and help tired parents like myself. Someone that could be the sleep expert as well as a co-pilot to a family as they helped their child learn lifelong healthy sleep strategies and support them along the way.

I am very fortunate to have been trained to become a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant under Dana Obleman. A pioneer in the field of pediatric sleep coaching and the creator of the Sleep Sense program. With a degree focused in Communication & Psychology, an advanced diploma in Behavioral Interventions and a Diploma in Child and Youth Care Work, I have dedicated the last 12 years of my life educating myself in the field of Children & Youth. Becoming a Certified Sleep Consultant has been a wonderful addition to the services I offer to families.

I wish I knew then what I know now; that sleep deprivation is not something that parents and caregivers alike have to live with. There are solutions, there is a better way, and I am here to guide you through every step toward a full night’s sleep.

Let me – help you.
